The start
My first ever compilation of songs were recorded on a voice recorder that my dad had given me. I printed it out on CDs and titled it, “The Start.”
I used to record myself with the beats playing out of the computer speakers. Eventually I learned that music software existed and I began to line up the recordings with the beats.
That was well over a decade ago! What’s funny is, I feel like I’m just getting started.
An artist’s path is rarely clear from the start. There is always more to learn, more people that you need to meet, more money that you have to spend. It often feels like I’ve had to start over multiple times; so hundreds of beats, songs, and performances later, he we are again. At The Start.
But this time, I’m not starting over.
One thing I learned from starting over so many times is that when you start over, that often means there are things that you failed to execute. Songs, projects, poems, books, scripts… I’ve got a lot to do, and I hope you all will hold me accountable!
Sometimes I have to disappear a little bit, but never doubt that the love is real! I’ve released an old song my uncle recommended I put out. You can find it in the shop, and if you receive the newsletter you can use temporary discount code! I’d appreciate it if you all checked it out and helped me spread the word!
More to come! Until then…
Peace be with you,
Watty Tha Shepherd
